Superbowl Sunday

Who to pick in this matchup? This is not an easy one. The line is currently at Pittsburgh giving 4 points - it opened at 3.5 so the money is about even on both sides.

Seattle has a better rushing attack - assuming that Shaun Alexander shows up (he does have a history of slacking off in playoff games - except the Carolina blowout this year). Defense - I have to give the nod to the Steelers - they have been playing quite well - but Seattle put on a good show in the last couple playoff games. Matt Hasselbeck seems to have matured this year and has made fewer mistakes down the stretch - Big Ben - has impressed at times as well.

What to do:
Steelers - Run the ball and set up the pass - one of the best O lines in the business - the Steelers need the ground game to keep the high scoring Seahawks off the field and to balance their attack.
On defense they need to get to Hasselbeck and give him happy feet without giving up the big play. Look for Le Beau to have some nice packages aimed at confusing Hasselbeck.

Seahawks - On offense - give to Alexander and run left and run right - Pass to Jackson and Engram as needed to keep drives alive.
On defense I think the Seahawks will not blitz unless they have to - I think they will try to stuff the run and put the game in the young Quarterbacks hands hoping Big Ben will make mistakes.

Both coaches have been there before - so it is a wash.

In the end I am hoping for a close game and I think it could come down to a field goal - just to kill the Steeler money...I still need to go with my gut though and take the Steelers to cover.

Enjoy the game and look for more content in 2006!
