PickemU Week 4

Pick’em-U: Week 4

Welcome to the fourth week of the college season, college gridiron fans.

Last week wasn’t such a great week as I went 2-3 with my predictions and 0-1 with my upset pick of the week.

Pick’em-U is looking to improve this week with the following no-brainers and go from there.

NEW MEXICO STATE +30.5 over California
I like the Golden Bears, but giving more than 30 points on the road may be a bit too much at this time.  The Aggies are all about offense and Cal has the Pac-10’s best scoring defense (#2 total defense).  Stay tuned to ESPN to see which wins out and by how much.

Take these to your local bank branch and just deposit them now.

Michigan -3 over WISCONSIN
The Wolverines are back in sync after running up the score on lowly Eastern Michigan.  Now, it’s time to prove it to the Big Ten against the Badgers.

Arizona State -5.5 over OREGON STATE
Catch this one on Pac-10 Saturday Night Football on TBS.  The Sun Devils are for real on their own field.  However, now it’s time to prove it on the road in the Pac-10.  A false rumor going around is that the Sun Devils’ offense wore bibs while watching film of the Oregon State defense to catch the drool.  But, I can sure believe it.  Tune into TBS and give the 5.5 to the Beavers.

Solid Bet of the Week

ILLINOIS +10.5 over Michigan State
Always tough to go against Michigan State, however this one’s in Champaign, IL this weekend and the Illini are getting 10.5.  I’ll take it.

Underdog Pick of the Week

OREGON +21.5 over Southern California
USC has never managed to blow out the Ducks in Oregon since 9/28/1991, and even then, the score was only 30-14.  Even though these teams have not met since 2002, I still like how the Ducks overcame Fresno State last week and look for them to put up at least a wall of resistance against the Trojans and cover getting 21.5pts.  Hang on tight.  This one may be close with the spread, but that’s why it qualifies as the “Underdog” pick for this week.

Pro Pick of the Week

New England -3 over PITTSBURGH
Yep, the Willie Parker show is over for now.  Take the ‘Pats to win somewhere in the neighborhood of 23-17.
